Community Services and Facilities
Golden has many of the community services, facilities and amenities that people look for when they are looking for a town they might like to live in.
The Town has a hospital, with 24 hour emergency services, and the following additional services and programs: acute care (8 beds,) medical imaging, laboratory services, physiotherapy, public health services, inspections and licensing, mental health, home and community care, home support, meals on wheels and adult day care.
Durand Manor is a residential care facility providing 24-hour residential care for seniors. An 8-unit assisted living facility, with provision for a further 10 beds, is planned for construction in 2005.
| The Golden Medical Clinic provides general medical services to the Town and outlying area. Naturopathic and some specialized medical services are also provided. Ambulance coverage is 24 hours a day.
A Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachment provides both general duty and highway patrol service. The Town has an active auxiliary police force, Citizens on Patrol and Victims' Services augment the police force.
Golden and District Search and Rescue provides search and rescue services in the back country, on the highways and elsewhere outside the Town boundaries, conduct water rescues and assist other emergency service providers in Town when needed. Provincial and BC Supreme Court services are provided on a regularly scheduled basis at the Golden Courthouse.
Service BC, the provincial Government Agent provides a vast array of provincial functions, such as issuing marriage licenses, vital statistics, land title searches, registering new company names and businesses, and taking payments for various provincial services. |

The Town of Golden is in the Rocky Mountain School District (School District 6.) Two elementary schools in Town, a third, just south of Town in Nicholson, a fourth in Field, east of Town and Golden Secondary School provide education for area students. French Immersion is at the schools in Golden.
The College of the Rockies Golden Campus offers a range of courses, many of which are oriented to the transportation and tourism sectors.
The Golden library is owned by the Columbia Shuswap Regional District and operated by the Okanagan Regional Library Board. The library is located next to the Town Hall at 819 Park Avenue. In addition to a multi-branch print media collection, internet access is available for public use.
