Golden is located in the southeast corner of the province of British Columbia, Canada. Nestled between the spectacular Rocky Mountains to the east, and the Purcell mountain range to the west, where the frothy Kicking Horse River flows into the mighty Columbia, the scenery is spectacular.
Combining a traditional British Columbia industrial base with a growing tourism sector, Golden attracts a broad cross-section of people from all over the world, who come to work, live, play and stay. |

Mayor's Message

Rotary Trail on the Kicking Horse River |
Golden is anchored by Louisiana-Pacific, which produces laminated veneer lumber (LVL) engineered wood products and by CP Rail's coal car repair facility and rail yard. Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, the Golden Golf Club, and many other tourism based amenities and adventures make up a third important part of our economy. Thinking of coming as a tourist? Visit the website of Tourism Golden, our leading specialist and local marketer of our growing tourism industry, and find out how Golden embodies authentic adventure! If you’re thinking of relocating to Golden, check out Golden Area Initiatives website, and don’t forget to brows our "Visiting", "Living" and "Doing Business" tabs above.
| Mount Seven south of Golden has long been a world class hang gliding destination. Mountain bike trails for all levels of mountain biker are found in abundance. There are also boundless Hiking and climbing opportunities at the Town's doorstep.
The mountain backdrop to the community has spawned development of numerous adventure tourism businesses and more than 50 rural and remote bed and breakfasts and lodges, many of which are accessible only by helicopter.
With a diversity not always found in smaller BC communities, Golden is well-positioned to adjust to both good and not-so-good economic times. |
